Effect & Usage of Camphor (Kampfer)
Camphor was traditionally produced by distilling the bark and wood of the camphor tree. Nowadays, it is mostly derived from turpentine oil. It is commonly used in well-known products such as Vicks VapoRub.
Camphor is often applied to the skin to relieve pain and reduce itching. It is also used to treat toenail fungus, warts, hemorrhoids, and osteoarthritis. Additionally, camphor increases blood flow and reduces swelling. When applied to the skin, camphor appears to stimulate nerve endings, helping to alleviate pain and itching. Moreover, camphor also has antifungal properties.
