Voetreflexmassage: Welke tafel heb ik nodig?

Are you a therapist or masseur planning to start offering foot reflexology therapy, but unsure which massage table to purchase?

Perhaps you're not even sure if you should buy a massage table or a treatment chair.

The short answer: there is no right or wrong choice, foot reflexology can even be done on the kitchen table! Focus on what you believe in and what you find most important.

4 Simple Steps to Choose a Massage Table for Foot Reflexology Massages

To help you get started, we’ve created a step-by-step guide, with considerations you can take into account during a foot reflexology treatment.

Step 1: What Are You Looking For and What Do You Want?

Massage table or treatment chair? It’s important as a therapist to have a clear idea of your plans. Are you focusing solely on foot reflexology? Or are you considering offering (relaxation) massages or even beauty treatments?

Look ahead and carefully consider what you want to do in the next 5 years. It’s ideal to have one massage table or treatment chair that you can use for all your treatments.

Since we at Zengrowth only offer massage tables, we will provide you with more details in the following steps about what to look for when purchasing a massage table for foot reflexology.

Step 2: With or Without a Backrest?

Have you decided that a massage table is a better option for you? The very first decision you’ll need to make is whether your massage table should have a backrest or not. After speaking with hundreds of foot reflexologists and reflexology schools, we’ve found that opinions on this are highly divided.

Some believe it’s important for the client to lie flat on the table so that the energy flows best during the treatment.

On the other hand, others believe it’s essential for the client to be able to sit upright for part of the treatment, allowing you to better observe their facial expressions and/or provide more comfort during the session.

For a massage table with a backrest, we recommend the Zengrowth Nimman foldable massage table or the Pirin Liftback electric massage table. However, keep in mind that a massage table with a backrest will be heavier(approximately 3kg more for foldable tables) and often more expensive (especially for electric massage tables).

The key question you should ask yourself is whether or not you will actually use the backrest. If you think you won’t use the backrest, we suggest opting for a massage table without a backrest. This will save you unnecessary extra weightand additional costs.

Are you looking for a lightweight foldable massage table for your foot reflexology treatments? The Zengrowth Artarmon table is one of the lightest massage tables on the market, making it ideal for a foot reflexologist who works on the go. Aluminum is lighter than wood, and we’ve chosen to offer only high-quality aluminum massage tables(aluminum that is also used in aircraft).

Additionally, there are massage tables with an adjustable knee section (both foldable and electric). This can provide that extra bit of comfort during a foot reflexology treatment. However, some therapists believe that it could also limit the flow of energy. Keep this in mind when making your decision, and determine what aligns best with your needs.

Step 3: What Size Does Your Massage Table Need to Be?

While the height of a massage table is often adjustable, its length and width are typically not. Most massage tables are between 185 cm and 195 cm in length. A standard size will suffice for most massage purposes, and with the use of an extended headrest, you will certainly have enough space.

It is important to also consider the height of your clients. Do you frequently treat taller clients? In that case, you might want to opt for a slightly longer massage table.

Caution: If you're doing foot reflexology and/or head massages, a table that is too long may make these areas harder to reach. The table shouldn't be too long, as it might make it difficult for you to access certain body parts as a therapist.

The standard width of a massage table is 71 cm. There are also narrower tables available, at 63.5 cm, but these are typically used for sports massages and generally offer less comfort for your clients.

In addition, there are massage tables that are 76 cm wide, which provide a bit more comfort for individuals who are a little wider. As a general rule, make sure your clients can lie comfortably on the table.

In this case, also consider an electric massage table, as it makes it easier for your clients to get on the table and often provides much more comfort than a regular massage table.

Step 4: What is Your Budget?

Lastly, but certainly not least, what is your budget? The price of a massage table determines many factors, including the quality of the screws and hinges, the material used for the wood/aluminum, the foam, and the upholstery.

If you are offering foot reflexology massages at a professional level and have a slightly higher budget, you might opt for an electric massage table.

If you only give occasional foot reflexology treatments or have a smaller budget, then our foldable massage tables are ideal for you!
